CPA Australia Undergraduate Conference 2009

a

Dear members and loyal readers, the report of the Conference just came in (albeit very slow, sorry about that > <) We are very happy to announce that CPAASC have successfully organized the CPA AUSTRALIA UNDERGRADUATE CONFERENCE 2009 with the theme "Challenge the Boundaries" on Saturday, the 12 September 2009 where over 300 students have attended this huge event.

It was a great honour for us to be bless with exciting speakers, the first was the CEO of Money Tree Asia Pacific Limited, Mr Michael Reyes, the Representative from CPA Australia, Malaysia Division, Mr Gerard Fernandez and Representative from CPA Australia, Council Member of CPA Australia Malaysia Division, Dr. Edward Lim. Their presence is highly appreciated as they gave us a full serving of goodness while willingly freeing up their schedule for the day and not to forget to share with us a lot of meaningful experiences and knowledge of the corporate world.

Flow of event~

Registration of participants was being done at the Swinburne Block B Lobby. Can you see the crowd??? :D

Registration in progress...

So. Many. People. ^^

Ah, the surprise of the event, the “Flight CPA1209” Conference Now Boarding! Briefing

(There is a video regarding the briefing in our CPAASC Facebook page. Feel free to have a look ^^)

Presentation of Mementous~

FCPA Dr. Edward Lim presenting memento to Mr. Michael Reyes.

First Session~

The first speaker slot for the conference was done by Mr. Michael Reyes who kindly share his experience and give his speech of the topic "Challenges in Entrepreneurship and How to overcome it." Basically Mr Reyes talks about maintaining positive attitudes whenever facing challenges, always be true with own judgment, balancing of family and career and not just letting ourselves go with flow and caught with the growing problems in our lives til it is too late.

The talk itself is approximately 3 hours long, but it proves valuable as the speech was very exciting as Mr Michael Reyes relates his own experiences and told some exciting stories on people he have met when addressing the crowd. The crowd is pretty much entertained with the various segments of the stories, and were not shy to participate in asking and answering questions by Mr Michael Reyes.

Second Session~

After the lunch, the second session of the conference started with the speech done by Dr. Edward Lim with the topic "Challenge the Boundaries". Dr Edward’s slot was slotted to the third session where the second slot was allocated to CPA Australia representatives, but since there was a bit of technical problem and without wasting time, CPA Australia kindly pass the floor to Dr Edward to present his speech.

Dr Edward mainly talks of the coming challenges on the role of graduates as the new entrants into the corporate world. Once entering into this world, the challenges will be great as we are leaving our comfort zones as students/undergraduates in the university into the world, where it is completely unknown and always revolving. Thus it will serve us well to have the right attitude and making the best decision within the pressure to do well in our working life.

Considering that it was already in the afternoon, and it was after the lunch period, understandably everyone is getting kinda of sleepy. This does not escape the eyes of our esteemed speaker, and he brought the matter into his own hand by asking….

Everyone to stand up and do some "exercise". Haha^^

Third Session~

The third speaker of the event was Mr. Gerard Fernandez. He gave his speech about "CPA Australia - The Global Professional Accountancy Designation for Strategic Business Leaders." Mr Fernandez gave a brief overview on what CPA is currently doing and the updates that now more people can join CPA passport programme, where it is now open to people in numerous field, not only from the Accounting field. There are certain steps to be taken to pursue the coveted CPA membership. In opening its doors to people around the world within various fields, this helps to promote CPA and gave more value to its members from the attain knowledge from various fields.

The end of the speech at around 3pm mark the end of the conference, and now some pictures to commit the memory of the event~

Group Pictures~

(Sorry the pictures' quality is low, but dont worry! Just upload them from our Facebook page ^^)

Thank you all for your participation and support, we, CPAASC appreciates the effort of our participants of the day, and not forgetting our helpers for the event.
