We stayed at Imperial Hotel. It was a nice hotel. :) Thanks to Lilian for booking it for us.

Curtin friends drove us using Curtin shutter from our hotel to Curtin Uni. We left as early at 7.30am. Everyone was excited and joyful.

At last, we arrived at Curtin University. It took us approximately 20 minutes drove from our hotel to the uni.

Beautiful compound inside Curtin. There are so many trees which makes the Uni looks so green and environmental friendly. Great atmostphere.

Public Mutual Career Talk 17 September 2008

On Wednesday, 17th September 2008, we invited some representatives from Public Mutual - Ms. Bibiana Chong and her team to give students a brief overview on “Financial Planning and job opportunities in Public Mutual Ltd.” The career talk was held in room 8.13 and 8.12 (for refreshments). There were approximately 150 students who attended the talk.

There was quite a large turnout on that day.

Ms Chong enticed us to answer her questions with rewards in the form of money!

One of our attendees attempting an answer.

The purpose of the talk was to clarify certain doubts from students regarding what Public Mutual actually is and what their main business is, and how to manage their personal money besides discovering the various job opportunities that are available in that company. There was a Q&A session which allowed students to ask questions and many participants were able to approach the representatives personally for more details afterwards.

After the talk, Mr. Chan Soon Hua, club advisor represented CPAASC to give some souvenirs to Ms. Bibiana Chong and her team. Last but not least, we had some refreshments for all participants at room 8.12 to end the talk.

Hi there guys!

A very warm welcome from our president Ai Ling. :)

We had a general meeting on the 10th of September 2008. Many students turned up and we started off the meeting with a speech from our club's president, Ai Ling. After that, Esther continued on with the list of activities for Sem 2, 2008:

    • August - Recruitment Drive (Over)
    • September 10th - General Meeting (Over)
    • September 17th - Public Mutual Career Talk
    • October - Student Conference
    • December - Leadership Camp

Then Ronnie continued with the events of the previous semester to show the students an example of how a typical semester with us would be like. Next, he explained on the qualifications of the certificate requirements for CPA ASC:

  1. Need to be member for 2 consecutive/continuous semesters including paying for registration of RM5 per semester.
  2. Have been actively involved in most of the events organized with at least 80% attendance.

To further explain, a member must at least attend 8 out of every 10 activities organised by our club. We also advise all members to register for the CPA Passport at this link:

CPA Passport is a student network created specially for students taking accounting in order for us to stay connected with CPA while we are still pursuing our education. It allows its members to sign up for free membership which offers a range of benefits, including access to an international and Australian work experience program, career planning workshops and discounted products and services.

Reminder: Do email your CPA Passport number to us ASAP for us to fully register your details. TQ!

We also advise the members to keep track of upcoming activities in order to be able to attend -
do look out for notices on our notice board which is situated on the left hand side of Level 2, Building G.

With that, our meeting ended at 3.00 pm. Many stayed back to complete their registration with our committee.

Have a nice day!
